Dip-pen Nanolithography is used to fabricate nanopatterned substrates for stem cell experiments. Factors which are known to play a role in stem cell differentiation are immobilized on these substrates. The highly controlled order, in which these factors are presented to the cells, is thought to have a positive influence on the homogeneity of the cell response. In order to take advantage of the full therapeutic potential of stem cells, homogeneous cultures are indispensable. Aforementioned factors are immobilized on the surface taking advantage of the biorecognition mechanism.
