December 16, 2013 02:01 PM EST By: Jennifer Rocha

Partnership is between the US Endowment Forestry and Communities and the U.S. Forest Service.

USDA Secretary notes in the release, “We believe in the potential of wood- based nanotechnology to strengthen rural America by creating sustainable jobs and adding timber value while also creating conservation opportunities in working forests.”
The project is currently seeking additional public and private funding.  The three-year partnership will focus on addressing the technical barriers to large- scale wood-based nanotechnology processing and the S&T steps that are needed for large scale commercialization.
