Site-Directed Chemical Modification of Phage Particles |
| Christopher J. Noren
Head, Bioorganic Chemistry Division New England Biolabs
| Diverse composition of surface amino acid in filamentous phages allows running various chemical reactions on their surfaces to produce nanomaterials with new specific properties: fluorescent, biotin-, or radioactively labelled, cytotoxic, etc. Phage can be used also for conjugation of organic ligands to obtain genetically encoded organic libraries, can be labelled with gold nanobeads to obtain laser-activated therapeutics, conjugated with anticancer drugs to target them to the site of disease, etc. The report will discuss the reactivity and modification of phage particles. Speaking in the special symposium on Phage Nanobiotechnology.
