Bringing together advances generated through the developing fields of bionanotechnology and gene therapy, and demonstrated through the ABCD model, we propose a biocompatible, stable, specific stealth lipoplex targeting macrophages, as proof of concept, which is to be developed into a novel disease modifying agent in the treatment of systemic autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis
