In this study, TiO(2-X)N(X) was synthesized using transferred DC plasma torch as the heating source. As a result, the nanopowders of TiO(2-X)N(X) were formed via a single-step process. The formed TiO(2-X)N(X) nanopowder was characterized with TEM, XRD and UV-Vis. The obtained results indicated that the nanopowder had a size within 5–20 nm. The formed TiO(2-X)N(X) nanopowder was a mixture of the anatase and rutile phase. An evident red-shift in wavelength absorption was observed. These results revealed that the proposed thermal plasma method successfully fabricated N-doped TiO(2) in a single step.
