Abstract:Polypyrrole thin films were prepared by electrochemical process and then these films were irradiated by Swift Heavy Ions and by gamma rays. The structural and optical properties of the Polypyrrole thin films were characterized by XRD, UV-Visible and by SEM analysis. the crystallinity of the thin films were found to increase after irradation and a shift in the absorbance edge was also found with increasing fluence suggesting the decrease in the band gap of the polymer after irradiation. A systematic change in the surface of the thin films was also found.
