Micro mixture: Size effect of micro mixing

Authors:R. Khelfaoui, B. Benyoucef and S. Colin
Affilation:ASSISTANT, DZ
Pages:201 - 204
Keywords:micro mixture, diffusion, size effect, modelling
Abstract:A micro system is an optimized combination of elements fulfilling several complementary functions. Micro mixers applied in many fields, effective devices, for the handling of a chemical multitude of reaction, achieved objectives along ten years indeed announce the emergence of new materials. This work consists a numerical study of passive mixers vortex form, presents an important alternative to develop technical solutions in order improving the micro mixer performances, and size effect in mixture efficiency The numerical results indicate that the mixing performance can be as high as 92% within a mixing chamber of 0,5 mm diameter and 50 m characteristic length when the Reynolds number is Re = 490. Additionally, the results confirm that self-rotation in the circular mixer enhances the mixing performance significantly, even at low Reynolds numbers. The novel micro mixing method presented in this study provides a simple solution to mixing problems in micro system.
