The design of a sensor for injection into the human brain to aid sufferers of spinal injuries and neurological dissorders is outlined. It is powered and communicates by induction from an external coil, and incorporates a novel design of ‘micro umbrella’ to mechanically deploy micro inductors on ‘wings’ as the sensor exits the needle to increase the communication capacity.
