Annual Symposium Synopsys
Polymer Nanotechnology is the most rapidly growing sections of the Nanotech
Conference program. Process and characterization advancements are leading to
new functionality and application of polymer nanoparticles.
The extraordinarily large surface area on the nanoparticles presents diverse
opportunities to place functional groups on the surface. Particles can be
created that can expand/contract with changes in pH, or interact with
anti-bodies in special ways to provide rapid ex-vivo medical diagnostic tests.
Important extensions have been made in combining inorganic materials with
polymers and in combining different classes of polymers together in nanoparticle
form.
More recent advances in simulation, chemistry, processing techniques, and
analytical instrumentation allow a whole host of new types of polymer particles
and polymer nanotechnology applications to be realized. Particles include;
hollow, multi-lobed, magnetic, functionalized with reactive groups on the
surface, conductive, etc. Our ability to devise new process control strategies
have led to the ability to control the shape, chemical composition, internal
structure, and morphology of the nanoparticles so as to develop new levels of
product performance and application.
We invite you to participate in the Nanotech 2006 Polymer Nanotechnology Special
Symposium. Please submit your abstract below. We highly encourage your
participation in this community, through your comments, suggestions and offers
for assistance in review and organization.
Sessions in the Polymer Nanotechnology Symposium will be coordinated with those
in the related Soft
Nanotechnology symposium to prevent duplication.

Submit Proposal or Comment to Committee Chair
We encourage you to participate and to submit your interest as either an
Scientific Committee Member or to organize a Scientific Committee*. The
NSTI will provide the infrastructure for each Industrial Committee to
organize and present a focused Symposium at the annual Nanotech
Conference and Trade Show (Nanotech 2008,
Boston, Massachusetts, June 1-5, 2008). Details will be provide upon approval of
proposal.
* All submissions will be reviewed by the NSTI Scientific Committee
Chairs and a timely response will be issued.
