Special Symposium
This symposium will highlight the synthesis, characterization and
applications of soft materials that contain nanoparticles: colloids.
Colloid science has a tradition stretching back long before we started
to call materials containing nanometer to micron sized structure "nano".
Colloids comprise a wide range of products including foods, personal
care products and paints. Topics will include:
- Directed and Self Assembly: Fundamentals and applications in photonics and nanoelectronics
- Tailoring Colloid Stability
- Processing Issues: Colloids in external fields and under non-equilibrium conditions
- Computer Modeling and Simulation
- Applications in Personal Care and Cosmetics
- Applications in Food Science
- Novel Applications of Colloidal Materials
This symposium will be coordinated with the Soft Nanotechnology
Symposium, the Nano
Particles & Applications Symposium, the Composites and Interfaces
Symposium, and the Nano
Electronics & Photonics Symposium.
Poster Contest
Poster presentations accepted into this symposium will be automatically
entered into the Soft Matter Poster Contest. Entries will be judged
during the poster sessions at Nanotech 2007 by a team of Soft
Nanotechnology experts from industry, the NSTI, and the Royal Society of
Chemistry. The poster reporting the most exciting new discovery or
application of soft nanostructured materials will receive a subscription
to the RSC Soft Matter Journal.
Topics & Application Areas
Online abstract submissions are now being accepted. Proposed topics
include, but are not be limited to:
- Directed and Self Assembly
- Tailoring Colloid Stability
- Processing Issues
- Computer Modeling and Simulation
- Applications in Personal Care and Cosmetics
- Applications in Food Science
- Novel Applications of Colloidal Materials
